A true and old companion

An animal can become a person's dearest companion. I really am amazed by how attached I've become in the last 11 years to Shelby. The relationship people develope with animals is unike the kind of relationship people can ever develope with eachother. It can be the closest and even an intensly co-dependant relationship. I sometimes wonder what things would be like without pets, of any kind. Its interesting that people who say that they don't want children, have pets, including dogs and cats. Although cats are pretty independant animals, they can be incredibly affectionate and require a lot of attention and maintenance. Although some of these people don't want the responsiblity of a child, they want the responsiblity of taking care of an animal its entire life. There's no judgement in this observation, but an interesting one.

I'm saying goodbye to my dog on Monday, and it's not going to be easy. He'll be dearly missed. It truely is like losing a family member, an amazingly close friend. He knows my secrets, my fears and my joys. Love you Shelby.

Just a snapshot of thought.
Enjoy
